Troon

Troon North and Troon Village are two master planned golf communities in north Scottsdale. Spread out over 1,800 acres in the northern foothills of Pinnacle Peak, the area enjoys a slightly higher elevation than most of the Phoenix Valley. At up to 2,800 feet above sea level (Scottsdale is at about 1,250 feet above sea level), the higher elevation not only provides cooler temperatures, but also cleaner air and spectacular views of the surrounding desert landscape and Valley floor.

Some of the Best Golf in Arizona

The world-class golf courses and recreational facilities attract many residents to the Troon communities. There are four golf clubs and five different courses within all of Troon. Troon Country Club in Troon Village features a private golf course designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskop as an homage to its namesake course in Scotland, the Royal Troon. This course has hosted a variety of tournaments and is often ranked as one of the best courses in Arizona. Additional features of the member-owned club include a state-of-the-art fitness facility, swimming pool, tennis complex, and both formal and informal dining rooms. Semi-private Troon North Golf Club includes two 18-hole courses through the picturesque Sonoran desert, a clubhouse, restaurant, pro shop and banquet facilities. The Pinnacle course, also design by Tom Weiskopf, has been listed as one of the top 25 best courses in the state by Golf Digest. Residents of Troon receive a discount on green fees and may be invited to play as a member.

Spectacular Scenery

Not to be up staged by golf, the serene Troon location is perfect for hiking, jogging, biking and horseback riding. The community enjoys exclusive access to the Brown’s Ranch Trailhead, providing the perfect starting point for 120 miles of non-motorized trails through the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The trailhead also features ramadas, drinking fountains for two-legged and four-legged hikers, an amphitheater and restrooms. Exploring Pinnacle Peak Park also offers exceptional views. Designed especially for the community and residents, the four-acre Troon North Community Park brings together the community’s network of paths and trails while featuring tennis courts, basketball courts and children’s play areas. Then there are the social committees, who arrange community events like barbeques, live music and brunches.

Breathtaking Views from Luxury Homes

As a master planned community, Troon appeals to homeowners and families of all types and sizes. Everything from condos and single family homes to custom estates and vacant lots are available in multiple subdivisions. Prices range from $799,000 for a condominium to around $4.5 million for a custom estate. Sweeping views of the mountains, desert and golf courses can be enjoyed from almost every home, although some houses and condos are built right on the fairway for even closer views and access. Interior features in Troon homes are just as impressive as the surrounding views. It’s not uncommon to find spacious and open floor plans, gourmet chef’s kitchens, wine cellar, private guest casitas and custom stone work. To complement the Troon Mountain and fairway views, private yards often include heated or negative pools and built-in barbeques. The luxury golf homes in Troon are both a retreat and an entertainer’s dream!

Education

The Troon community is part of the Cave Creek Unified School District and is served by public schools Desert Sun Elementary School, Sonoran Trails Middle School and Cactus Shadows High School. The north Scottsdale area also offers a variety of private, charter and religious schools, such as The Foothills Academy College Preparatory (kindergarten through 12th grade) and El Dorado Private School (preschool through 8th grade).
